World Youth Day 2011 - Madrid Spain
We will have a meeting in August for all those who are interested in attending.  We will be asking for ideas for fundraising, etc. to offset costs.  You must be entering high school 2011 or older in order to attend.  No exceptions.

We would like to thank Mr. Mark Holan, Mr. & Mrs. Tom O'Donnell and Deacon Ed for their fine efforts leading the car washes so far.  Mrs. Balestri for our snacks!  For all the great folks who came to the car wash to support us!!!  Some even stopped by to make a donation even though they didn't have time to get their car washed.  Thank you!!!

2010 Mission Trip
"Believe the incredible and you can do the impossible." ~Bishop Fulton Sheen

Tallulah was my first mission trip ever, and I can’t believe how much it has changed me. Upon arriving at the work site, on the first work day, I already felt blessed to be there.  Working on Ms. Fountain’s house was an amazing experience, not only because of the house washing and painting, but because of Ms. Fountain herself. She believed so deeply in God that even though she had feet and hand problems, she kept telling us that everything happened for a reason. I was so amazed that someone could be so devout that she believed that God had a plan even when she had her hand and foot messed up. My group also heard a phone call between Ms. Fountain and her friend, and Ms. Fountain kept telling her friend that she didn’t know where we all came from, but she was convinced that we were all angels straight from heaven. Also, my small group had the privilege to go work on the tornado site. It was a wonder to see. But what really struck me wasn’t when we were moving the scraps, but it was when I found things that I had in my own home in the rubble and burnt pieces of a bible, one of which that said, “You cannot fathom the power of God.” I think that God meant for us to find those scraps, because we were looking at a motor home that had been destroyed by a tornado and then burnt pretty badly by a fire. Then, on Wednesday and Thursday, when I went to kids club I met Melody. She became my buddy and told me that I was one of her best friends. When she told me that, I felt so happy that I could have made such an impact on her in such a small amount of time. I’m going to miss her and I pray for her every night. I hope that I have helped make a lasting impression on the community of Tallulah, because they have made a lasting impression on me.                By Julie Metzler

We would like to thank our anonymous donors who have donated over the last year and even the day of, towards our mission trip.  You are so very much appreciated!  We can't forget to send a special thank you to Mr. Ken Grill of Grill's True Value Hardware in Midlothian who lent us his work van to transport the bulk of our luggage free of charge.  If you are in the neighborhood, please stop in and see him!

Speaking of Mission trip.... have you turned in your reflection paper yet?  It's due NOW!!

August 8 - Tallulah Reunion following 6pm Mass!

SENIORS SET THE WORLD ABLAZE!

For a week in June, a team of TNT Seniors asked the underclassmen to look at what holds them back from finding their passion or fire within.  Then they challenged the teens to use their passion/gifts to impact others and deepen their faith.  They also met some new friends including a "Buddy" that they randomly assigned as part of an activity to see who can learn the most about that person.  Some of the questions were quite interesting!
The Seniors worked hard all year long to create this wonderful week in Michigan.  The teens were not disappointed.
They also learned a new game... Gaga!  Very cool.
Our thanks to Carli Chatlosh, Val Cichy, Olivia Harmening, Alex Izguerra, Kyle Kempke, Becky Kostbade, Daniela Tomas, Lidia Zacharczuk and Eric Pehr.  Special thanks to our awesome chaperones.... Mrs. Deby Hayes, Mr. Brad Lancy, Mr. Chris Pluchar and Mr. Tim O'Donnell.

"Believe the incredible and you can do the impossible." - Bishop Fulton Sheen
This is the motto for the 2010 Mission trip chosen by the teens.  Check back in the coming weeks for reflections about their experiences in Tallulah.  Thank you for your prayers and your kind and generous spirit.  Your support means everything to the youth of the parish.
We could not go without the selfless giving of time, energy, patience and compassionate hearts of our adult chaperones: Mrs. Cindy Evans, Mrs. Kay Kempke, Mr. Randy King, Mr. Colin Nolan, Mr. Joe O'Donnell and esp. Mr. Chris Pluchar, who took off work at the last minute to replace Fr. Artur.  We literally could not have gone without him.  As always, thank you to Deacon Ed who starts organizing the mission trips in the Summer/Fall for the following year and leads the way until we are home safe and sound.
