TNT Youth Group
(Teens Need Togetherness)

This group is open to all high school age teens, who with their peers, would like to explore their faith and relationship with God in today’s world. Our program presents many wonderful opportunities and we strongly encourage the youth of our parish to share their gifts with others. TNT is overseen by the Youth Ministry Coordinator with the help and support of the Youth Board and a team of dedicated parents / adult / young adult volunteers.

Qualifications:

All high school age teens are invited to actively participate in TNT and attend any and all events.

Interested young adults who have been out of high school for at least two years are able to step forward to become teen mentors. Please call the youth office for more information.

Parents of teens are strongly encouraged to volunteer at one or more events. We can only accomplish what we have the manpower to do. Parents / adults must like teens (including their own), be open to new ideas, periodic sleep deprivation and want to have fun.

All adults 18 years of age and older who work or volunteer with children are required to attend a Virtus Training session as well as agree to a Background Check.

Time Commitment:

Teen Leaders meet on a Sunday night from 7 - 9pm to plan the TNT Meeting and any other upcoming events.

Other time commitments vary by project.

The Youth Ministry Coordinator, along with two Board members, are also part of the Parish Pastoral Council which meets once per quarter.

The Youth Board meets once per quarter.

Parent / adult volunteers commitment varies by event.

Let's answer a few questions you might have.....

What is TNT?  It is our high school youth group.  Our purpose is to offer an environment of various means that will encourage each other in our faith and bring us closer to Christ.

Who can join?  We don't have any fee or official forms, just by being a part of the St. Julie Parish, you are already a member.  The question becomes, would you like to participate?

What do I have to do?  Come to all the events?  Nope!  Just the ones that interest you or that you have time for.  Teens have a busy schedule these days and you have your family too.

Can I bring friends even if they don't go to St. Julie?  Sure, as long as they are in high school and they are willing to respect all those who are here.  In addition, you'll find many teens at the 6pm mass though you are encouraged to attend any of the 6 masses that is best for you and your family.

What does a youth group do?  Lots of thing!  We have regular TNT Meetings on Sunday nights from 7-9pm every third Sunday.  Some have more serious faith topics and some might be a light topic.  We rotate with a Drop-In.  We have social opportunities and plenty of service too.  Our most popular activities are our retreats.  Planovation is held in March and in the summer is Breakaway.  In 2010, we will be heading to Tennessee for our mission trip!

How do I find out about all of this stuff?  It's easy!  You can look in our Sunday bulletin, which is also online at www.stjulie.org.  If you haven't already, you can send St. Julie TNT a friend request on Facebook, or you can visit this website frequently to watch for updates.  You can also call the Youth Office at 429-7377.
